As the machine of higher education in Solo, UNS gives its responsibilties to bring itself to be world class university. One of its effort in achieving this is by opening a chance for students to have exchange with another university in the world as well as having international students in UNS.
On March 3 2011, International Office welcomed students of SMA N 1 Surakarta in the seminar entitled “Dare to Explore the World” in PUSKOM UNS. The seminar was one of the community services from UNS international students by giving senior high school students a motivation to explore another part of the world by joining exchanges. In one session, the students were also given many informations about scholarship to study abroad. There were four speakers, Horia Diaconesco from Romania, Mika Masui from Japan, Patrick from Hong Kong, and Mr. Sutanto from UNS. There was also Javanese dance performance from Mika Masui from Japan and accoustic performance from Patrick. The students joined the seminar enthusiastically by giving so many questions about the information given by the speakers.
The seminar was expected to motivate senior high school students in Surakarta to plan their future after graduating from high school. It was also expected to open more opportunities for them to get scholarship and to experience the life as international students in another country.
