All participants of UNS Cultural Course 2015 are spending two days and one night in Desa Pentingsari, Umbulharjo, Cangkringan, Sleman, to take part in the activities and experience as well as interact with the culture, tradition, and the daily life of the locals.
Today, the students learned how to make wayang rumput (grass puppet) and a simple janur (coconut leaf) arrangement. Next, they went to a field to experience the process of planting rice first hand. In the evening, the students had a pleasant time learning how to play gamelan. They quickly familiarized themselves with the instruments to perform a Javanese traditional song, “Sluku-sluku Bathok”.
